Z

Z is for Sleep or ZZZZ….

What is one to do when he or she is injured? What would you say is the best medicine? Well the Hubby seems to think it is sleep….

20160430_123004

Of course they do say that sleep is good for a cold, but I don’t know that this would qualify. However, I do know that when one is injured or sick, sleep does help the body to restore energy needed for healing. So, this probably is a good thing. Just can’t wait for his leg to heal….

Have a great day!

Y

Y is for Yikes!

Today while we were on our way home from town I saw black smoke in the air. So, I got a picture of it. I did not realize at the time though, that the fire was at the fire station. I also got a picture of the fire itself (or at least a small part of it). I imagine they are doing a controlled burn, but with the wind the way it has been I would think that would be a little dangerous.

I took this as we were driving by so I was surprised that it actually turned out and that I actually got a picture of the fire itself.

Blogging from A to Z and April Photo Challenge Day 27

W is for Water!

I live in Arizona therefore it has not rained in a while and there are no bodies of water closer than 2 hours away from me. So, for this one I had to go back to pictures I have taken in the past.

When we do get rain, sometimes we get quite a bit. My front yard begins to look like a lake.

WP_20150820_14_56_57_Pro

This was only about 5 minutes into the rain storm. During this particular storm, Jackie, one of our dogs decided to suddenly be afraid of loud noises. Because of this, for the duration of the storm, she would not leave my side (but only because hubby was at work otherwise it would have been by his side).

This one is just a wider view of the first showing the lake our front yard had become.

Have a great day!

U

U is for Unexpected!

I am so thrilled right now I’m not sure I can contain myself. Since, hubby broke his leg, he won’t be able to drive his truck to work for a while (it’s a standard). He will have to take my Kia to work with him since it’s an automatic. This means that we are putting my Jeep back on the road!

20160425_174924

A little back information on my Jeep. I bought this Jeep back in 2003 when I got my license. This was my first car that I bought and paid for (well financed anyways). I paid it off in 2006 and was extremely thrilled. We took this Jeep to Oklahoma with us last year towed behind our RV. She has almost 400,000 miles on her. I love this car.

Yes, being that old she does have some issues, and she can be very temperamental at times, but she still runs. After Aarron and I got married, he got the Kia for me so that I had a more reliable vehicle with A/C since the summers get to be over 100 here (usually 110 or so).

She definitely has an attitude problem, but she is mine! I love this Jeep and can’t wait to start driving it again.

Have a great day!

T is for Tent!

Which is where I would love to be right now with my husband and maybe even a few of the kiddos…lol. This picture was taken on our last camping trip last summer.

WP_20150719_09_42_13_Pro

We were on our way home at this point from Patagonia Lake (my favorite place to go camping). There is a memorial site on the side of the road that we stopped to look at. The last trip it rained the whole time except for about an hour on Saturday when we were able to go fishing. Then it stopped raining on the way home.

I have so many great childhood memories from Patagonia Lake. I love that I am able to take my kids to experience some of the same things. The whole place has changed quite a bit from what I remember as a kid, but I still love to go up there.

Have a great day!

Q

Q is for Quiet! Healing in progress

So, we went for hubby’s follow-up appointment on his leg yesterday (which is why I am posting today and not yesterday). We got to see his x-rays from the hospital of both before and after the surgery. This is apparently a pretty bad break. I will post the before pictures first and the after pictures after. The order will be from the knee to the ankle.

Aarron’s friend told him that they couldn’t play together anymore because he (Aarron) was bionic and Steve was only a mere mortal. lol

One last picture shows both before and after the surgery.

He is slowly healing, but cannot put any pressure on his leg for another 6 weeks at least.

P is for Passion!

Even though I deal with depression and anxiety, I still have passion in life. I still want to live life to the fullest. I still want to live! Sometimes though my anxiety mostly gets in the way. However, I am finding that I can still live a pretty full life even without going out all the time. I have my container garden that I am working on.

And of course, I have my children too that I love with all I am worth. So yes, even with anxiety and depression, I think I still have a pretty full life. Even with depression and anxiety, I do love my life. I deal with anxiety and depression, but I am not anxiety and depression!

O

O is for Once in a lifetime Opportunity!

So, this morning Aarron and I were sitting in the house when we start hearing a noise. Aarron asked if it was a blow torch. I said it was just the neighbors moving their trash cans (which was odd because it was like 7am and they don’t usually start moving around until after 5pm). After listening to this noise for a few more minutes, Aarron says it is a hot air balloon. I thought “no way” so I opened the door and the hot air balloon was right above us. So low that I could see the people in the basket. Aarron told me to get my camera and take pictures, by this time it was a little further away. But these are the pictures I got.

It landed in the road right up the street from us from what I can tell. This is a Once in a lifetime Opportunity because they are not usually this close to the houses in the area. They usually fly and land about 15 miles from here in the cotton fields. What a neat thing to see.

Have a great day!

N is for No!

We had a friend over last night and he and my husband were working on fixing one of the two quads we got a few weeks ago. Of course we all know how big boys are with their toys…. after working on them they just have to try them out. Normally this would not be an issue or the cause for a blog post. However, this time was just a little different.

No! That quad is for little kids.....
No! Steve  that quad is for little kids…..

As you can see, the quad is pretty small. Of course, they still had to test it out.

M

M is for Madness!

I think this describes my last two weeks perfectly. With Aarron being laid up and school work to do I haven’t’ had much time for anything else.  The bad thing is, it’s only going to get worse in the coming weeks. I am getting closer to starting my dissertation for my PhD, we aren’t sure when Aarron will be going back to work, so I may have to, and taking care of my father it all piles up very quickly.

While I love my life (really…I do), sometimes it can get pretty crazy. I have noticed that this is when the anxiety comes in the worst. However, I have my toolbox of things that help with anxiety so I think I am ready to handle whatever life has to throw at me again (I hope). If not, well…I will cope the best I can and lean on Aarron for support. I know that we can get through this time.

Anyhow, on a happier note. My dissertation is getting closer like a couple months away. I am terrified about having to this, but at the same time I can’t wait to get started. My topic (or questions are): Does learning style affect satisfaction of online learners? and Is one or two learning styles better suited for the online environment.

I have been fascinated with learning styles ever since we learned about them in high school. So I am so excited to get started on this. On the other hand, I am terrified to start this as I know it will be a pretty big undertaking. With everything else going on right now this will just be one more thing that I can worry about.

Oh well, life goes on and so will I!

Have a great day!

I is for Injury

I is for Injury. This is what I am dealing with right now. Hubby broke his leg pretty bad (2 bones). He had to have surgery on it to put in a rod and 2 plates to fix it. So at the moment my day is full of “honey can you help me?” But you know what? I wouldn’t change it. I married him for better or for worse and well right now is worse…lol. But I still love him (more and more every day) and have no problem helping him with anything he needs. He is my other half.

H is for Hot!

This is a good time of year in Southern Arizona right now. It’s not too hot and it’s not too cold. However, in the next month or so it will be getting HOT in Southern Arizona. I’m talking like 110 or worse HOT. The picture above shows my favorite lake where I enjoy time when the weather get hot out here.

G is for Garden!

This seems to be my passion right now. I can’t wait for them to start producing veggies. I hate to buy veggies because they are so expensive, not to mention the chemicals involved. I just added the fertilizer today, so we shall see how they do over the next weeks.

F is for Fairy or Fantasy. Either one would work. I have a fascination with the Fey. I love books that include them as characters. There are so many good books out there that I don’t think I could even pick a favorite.

E is for Egg!

This egg came straight from one of the birds in my back yard. They have been laying eggs for about 4 months now and the new ones just started as well. Or well 2 of them have started to lay eggs as well. Compared to this one though, the new bird’s eggs are almost half the size. I’m not sure I have ever seen an egg so small. I will have to get pics of both eggs to show the size difference.

D is for Dinosaur. This dinosaur can be found in the lobby of the Children’s center at University Medical Center in Tucson, AZ. I had to walk past this guy every day while hubby was in the hospital. Thankfully, he is now back home and resting better. This is actually yesterday’s post so I will follow with the next letter shortly.
