Z is for Sleep or ZZZZ….

What is one to do when he or she is injured? What would you say is the best medicine? Well the Hubby seems to think it is sleep….

20160430_123004

Of course they do say that sleep is good for a cold, but I don’t know that this would qualify. However, I do know that when one is injured or sick, sleep does help the body to restore energy needed for healing. So, this probably is a good thing. Just can’t wait for his leg to heal….

Day 30 (Last Day :) ) Summer plans

We since hubby got hurt and is in essence taking his vacation now, we probably won’t be able to do much this summer. Plus with his leg the way it is he still has 4 weeks before he can maybe put any weight on his injured leg. So, it looks like this summer will be full of reading and school.

Books on my kindle that I haven't read yet.
Books on my kindle that I haven’t read yet.

I still have a many, many books on my kindle that I haven’t had the time to get to yet so that is what I will be working on over the summer. For me, this is a good way to pass the time during the day when I stay in because the temperature is usually around 110 during the day. I don’t do heat very well and can only handle being out in the heat for an hour or so at a time (if that). So, no regrets as I love to read anyway, and I usually don’t have the time to do it so it will still be a good summer. And if hubby’s leg gets better quicker (as he is thinking it will) we may still be able to get in a camping trip or two before the summer is over. Just have to wait and see what happens there though.

Have a great day!

Y

Y is for Yikes!

Today while we were on our way home from town I saw black smoke in the air. So, I got a picture of it. I did not realize at the time though, that the fire was at the fire station. I also got a picture of the fire itself (or at least a small part of it). I imagine they are doing a controlled burn, but with the wind the way it has been I would think that would be a little dangerous.

I took this as we were driving by so I was surprised that it actually turned out and that I actually got a picture of the fire itself.

Day 29: On your feet

20160429_143608

If I could walk around like this all the time I would. I despise wearing shoes. That is always the first thing that comes off when I get home. When only here at home, if I am going into the main house I will just go in my socks. If I have to check on the chickens, then I have to put shoes on cause there are stickers out there. The majority of the day though, I go without shoes. I have to wear socks though.

Have a great day!

Day 28 – Trees around you

Since I really don’t get out much I got some pictures today of a few of the trees (if you want to call them trees – They are mesquite) in the yard. The first one is probably my favorite because it gets so big and droops down making an area underneath that my nieces and nephews like to play in when they come over.

20160428_111956

The next one is in the front yard and it doesn’t get real big or anything. Kinda sad looking really.

20160428_111934

This one is the tree my one of my chickens likes to roost in. This one also gets big and bushy so I have to trim an area where I can under to get the eggs the chicken lays under it.

And these are just a few of the trees on our property.

It’s a 2fer today! Blogging from A to Z the letter is W and the April Photo Challenge is water.

W is for Water!

I live in Arizona therefore it has not rained in a while and there are no bodies of water closer than 2 hours away from me. So, for this one I had to go back to pictures I have taken in the past.

When we do get rain, sometimes we get quite a bit. My front yard begins to look like a lake.

WP_20150820_14_56_57_Pro

This was only about 5 minutes into the rain storm. During this particular storm, Jackie, one of our dogs decided to suddenly be afraid of loud noises. Because of this, for the duration of the storm, she would not leave my side (but only because hubby was at work otherwise it would have been by his side).

This one is just a wider view of the first showing the lake our front yard had become.

U is for Unexpected!

I am so thrilled right now I’m not sure I can contain myself. Since, hubby broke his leg, he won’t be able to drive his truck to work for a while (it’s a standard). He will have to take my Kia to work with him since it’s an automatic. This means that we are putting my Jeep back on the road!

20160425_174924

A little back information on my Jeep. I bought this Jeep back in 2003 when I got my license. This was my first car that I bought and paid for (well financed anyways). I paid it off in 2006 and was extremely thrilled. We took this Jeep to Oklahoma with us last year towed behind our RV. She has almost 400,000 miles on her. I love this car.

Yes, being that old she does have some issues, and she can be very temperamental at times, but she still runs. After Aarron and I got married, he got the Kia for me so that I had a more reliable vehicle with A/C since the summers get to be over 100 here (usually 110 or so).

20160425_174937

She definitely has an attitude problem, but she is mine! I love this Jeep and can’t wait to start driving it again.

Have a great day!

Day 25 is top 3 accessories!

I had a bit of a hard time with this one as I don’t really do accessories. I have my wedding ring that I wear all the time, I have my mother’s ring that I wear all the time, and I have my Garmin Vivofit that I wear all the time. Nothing else so I had to get a bit creative on this one.

I tend to carry a purse which carries my .380 and my pepper spray, so that is what I chose as my top 3 accessories simply because I really don’t do accessories…LOL. 20160425_174720

I know I will probably catch hell over this one, but here goes:

The Dallas Cowboys have always been and probably always will be my favorite NFL team. Even when they lose they are my favorite team. LOL. Of course second to them I would have to say my next would be the

This is simply because it is the NFL team for Arizona which is where I live. You have to root for the home team….right? Then of course there is the Chicago Bears.

Again, I have liked the Bears for a long time, although they haven’t been a good team in some time. I gotta say though I can’t wait for football season to start again.

Day 23 – Your weekend

Well with hubby laid up for a while, we really can’t do very much. So, in honor of that, we will probably stay in and watch movies this weekend. Some of the titles we have are:

20160423_153641

These we have already watched. We usually hit up the video machine (can’t remember what it’s called, it’s not redbox though) to find the new releases to watch. So, since we are taking it easy this will probably be the way we go.

Which is where I would love to be right now with my husband and maybe even a few of the kiddos…lol. This picture was taken on our last camping trip last summer.

WP_20150719_09_42_13_Pro

We were on our way home at this point from Patagonia Lake (my favorite place to go camping). There is a memorial site on the side of the road that we stopped to look at. The last trip it rained the whole time except for about an hour on Saturday when we were able to go fishing. Then it stopped raining on the way home.

I have so many great childhood memories from Patagonia Lake. I love that I am able to take my kids to experience some of the same things. The whole place has changed quite a bit from what I remember as a kid, but I still love to go up there.

Have a great day!

Q

Q is for Quiet! Healing in progress

So, we went for hubby’s follow-up appointment on his leg yesterday (which is why I am posting today and not yesterday). We got to see his x-rays from the hospital of both before and after the surgery. This is apparently a pretty bad break. I will post the before pictures first and the after pictures after. The order will be from the knee to the ankle.

Aarron’s friend told him that they couldn’t play together anymore because he (Aarron) was bionic and Steve was only a mere mortal. lol

One last picture shows both before and after the surgery.

He is slowly healing, but cannot put any pressure on his leg for another 6 weeks at least.

P is for Passion!

Even though I deal with depression and anxiety, I still have passion in life. I still want to live life to the fullest. I still want to live! Sometimes though my anxiety mostly gets in the way. However, I am finding that I can still live a pretty full life even without going out all the time. I have my container garden that I am working on.

In a few more days there should be several more blooms on the cactus. I think this is just one of the things that I truly like about living in the desert. Even though we don’t have much green, we do get some very pretty flowers in the area that give the landscape color.

O

O is for Once in a lifetime Opportunity!

So, this morning Aarron and I were sitting in the house when we start hearing a noise. Aarron asked if it was a blow torch. I said it was just the neighbors moving their trash cans (which was odd because it was like 7am and they don’t usually start moving around until after 5pm). After listening to this noise for a few more minutes, Aarron says it is a hot air balloon. I thought “no way” so I opened the door and the hot air balloon was right above us. So low that I could see the people in the basket. Aarron told me to get my camera and take pictures, by this time it was a little further away. But these are the pictures I got.

It landed in the road right up the street from us from what I can tell. This is a Once in a lifetime Opportunity because they are not usually this close to the houses in the area. They usually fly and land about 15 miles from here in the cotton fields. What a neat thing to see.

Is this not the sexiest man you have ever seen? Sam Elliot have been my favorite actor for so long. I think the first movie I remember seeing him in was Roadhouse with Patrick Swayze (another favorite actor).

When he played in Tombstone (filmed partly at Old Tucson, where I worked at the time), I got to meet him and several others in the cast of the movie (Val Kilmer, Goldie Hawn (no she isn’t in the movie but was there with Kurt Russel who is), Kurt Russel, and Jason Priestly. All of them were amazing people with the exception of Jason Priestly who was a jerk. That was a great day!

N is for No!

We had a friend over last night and he and my husband were working on fixing one of the two quads we got a few weeks ago. Of course we all know how big boys are with their toys…. after working on them they just have to try them out. Normally this would not be an issue or the cause for a blog post. However, this time was just a little different.

No! That quad is for little kids.....
No! Steve  that quad is for little kids…..

As you can see, the quad is pretty small. Of course, they still had to test it out.
