This post today, is what gardening is all about!
These are fresh sunflower seeds straight from my garden. Do you remember the sunflowers? How big and beautiful they were? This is what they provide for us. For us, some seeds will go to plant next year, some will go to the chickens, and some will be used for sunflower seeds for the humans here. This was so easy to do because once the sunflowers start to wilt, the seeds just basically fall out or they can picked out very easily.
To make the sunflower seeds for us, I simply lined a cookie sheet with foil. Then rinse the seeds off and place them on the cookie sheet. Then you would preheat the oven to about 250 degrees. Put salt on the seeds and place them in the oven for about an hour.
The first picture shows the seeds before going in the oven and the next shows the sunflower seeds after they have been in the oven for about an hour at 250 degrees. This is so easy and there are so many recipes online for how one can roast the seeds. They can also be soaked in a brine first if you want a stronger flavor.
This is the final look of the seeds. They are ready to eat at this point and I know that hubby will enjoy them.
Have a great day!
