The Shock of Night By Patrick W. Carr
Well this is my first book review and I have to say I chose a good one to read. If you like fiction this book was fabulous. The characters are believable. The plot keeps you guessing from beginning to end. The whole book was very well written. I usually opt for mystery thrillers when I pick a book to read but this one tends to be more of sci-fi type book so I was really surprised that I liked it at all.
The book is written in what appears to be mid-evil times as there is no electricity or other modern devices. They are in a place where magic exists. A man who works as the king’s assassin is given a gift to see into people’s past. He has to use this gift to find a man who murdered another. A secret society finds that he has this gift and uses him to find another man, who defected from the secret society. Of course in the end most everything works out (isn’t that how it almost always happens in books?). I don’t want to give away to many details because it would spoil reading the book for you. But if you are looking for a good book to read, this is it!
